Support Our Student Clubs

Support SCE

Cal Poly’s Society of Civil Engineers (SCE) is one of many student chapters within the American Society of Civil Engineers organization. SCE is a club that focuses on promoting personal, professional, and scholastic development with academic and social events such as general meetings, career fairs, our mentorship program, hiking, camping, and more. SCE also has many project teams (Concrete Canoe, Steel Bridge, GeoWall, and Timber Design-Build) which provide members opportunities to get hands-on experience that they may not experience in their classroom environment.

Support Concrete Canoe

Our concrete canoe team is one of our prized traditions and has been part of student life for over 30 years. Through teamwork, leadership and hard work, the Cal Poly concrete canoe team has placed in the top five in 12 of the last 14 years with 5 national titles. When you support our endowment, your contribution is invested with and becomes part of our endowment. An annual distribution is made to the concrete canoe team to help cover expenses associated with constructing and traveling for the concrete canoe conferences. Because the principal remains intact, the fund will generate support in perpetuity.

Support GeoWall

GeoWall is a student-run project team tasked with designing and building a mechanically stabilized earth (MSE) retaining system. The process includes measuring material strength data, designing and analyzing the retaining system, and building our design at National and Regional competitions.

Support Steel Bridge

Cal Poly Steel Bridge is a competition team consisting of undergraduate students within the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering. Every year team members work together to plan, design, fabricate and construct a one-tenth scale model steel bridge to compete at the Pacific Southwest Conference and the National Student Steel Bridge Competition in the Spring. This project incorporates technical knowledge with hands-on experience consistent with Cal Poly’s “Learn By Doing” motto.

Support ITE

The Institute of Transportation Engineers (ITE) is an organization dedicated to connecting and educating transportation professionals. The Cal Poly San Luis Obispo student chapter aims to connect students with peers and professionals, to explore the opportunities within the field, and to make a lasting and meaningful impact on the community and profession.
