Timber Design Build
The Timber-Strong Design Build competition focuses on designing and constructing a sustainable two-story timber building. Wood is the only building material that grows naturally, is 100% renewable, and has a low carbon footprint. The objective is to design and build a sustainable, aesthetically pleasing, and structurally sound building.
This project enables students to gain experience in performing important aspects of structural engineering design and practice. Through the development of a building information model (BIM), preparation of project bids, and creation of construction documents, students will gain hands-on experience with the processes involved in professionally designing and proposing a project.
